I’m Emma Childs, a fashion features writer in Brooklyn, NYC, and the author of Childs Play on Substack.

Previously, I was the fashion features editor at Marie Claire, where I covered trends, personal style, and fashion-culture crossovers. Topics ranged from reports on Silly Little Pouches and pickpocket-friendly bags; fashion news coverage on feral designer collabs and the lack of female creative directors in luxury fashion; and pop culture fashion moments across TV (Industry) and music (Chapell Roan and Zara Larsson). (Oh, and one time, I wrote an exclusive with Summer House’s Amanda Batula, pre-Scamanda.)

Before that, I wrote trend reports and style articles as Marie Claire’s style editor and fashion news for The Zoe Report. I studied New Media & Digital Design and Fashion Studies at Fordham University Lincoln Center, and grew up on Cape Cod, MA. I’ve also dabbled in photography and art direction.

When I’m not hunched over my laptop, I’m reading literary fiction and trying to befriend bodega cats.
